First Impressions, Deeper Impressions
I’m Steven Peter, a Canadian abstract-surrealist painter exploring the space between structure and suggestion. My work invites deeper looking and layered meaning through form, feeling, and quiet tension.
What you see depends on how long you look.
First Glimpse
Clues from a dream you almost remember.
Frolicking
36" x 36", acrylic on gallery canvas
A structured celebration of motion, where colour and form dance in balance.
Construction Sight
30" x 48", acrylic on gallery canvas
A layered field of form and stillness, suggesting something built, abandoned, or remembered.
New Works: Life Cycle Series
I am currently working on a six-part series called the "Life Cycle" series.
It's a rendering of a person from their early twenties or so ("Leaving Home") to their end of life in the last painting ("Passing"). The paintings are minimalist (with a twist of surreal) artworks suggesting a narrative without depiction.

Impossible Series Suite in Gallery
A three-part series of 30x24 inch acrylic paintings, soon to be finished.
I'm excited to share all three paintings of my newest series. Each piece explores some variant of impossible objects which are visual representations that cannot exist in three-dimensional space. They are titled Impossible Journey, Impossible Destinations, and Impossible Relic.

Now Available on Saatchi Art
I've deactivated the sale of my paintings at Saatchi Art. This is because of some exhibit and sale commitments to the Federation of Canadian Artists. Artworks at Saatchi will be for sale in March 2026.
You can still browse my artworks, discover new pieces, and collect originals directly from my studio.
Thank you for your continued support!
